The title of this painting is He Is Still Here. Revelation 1:12-20 describes Jesus Christ in heaven in His brilliant heavenly glory. I am from the premise this is a literal depiction.  The Apostle John is on the Isle of Patmos, a Roman penal colony, for his faith when receiving this revelation of Jesus Christ.

When covid hit I was alarmed by changes in this world, lock downs, riots, to name a few. I was also alarmed at how many churches kept lockdowns while others like that of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Pastor Jack Hibbs, stood and began speaking out. The reason for the title He Is Still Here, as long as followers of Jesus Christ remain in this world and are not raptured out of here, there is hope for the lost. During the tribulation many will be saved, but for sure they will be martyred. And yes, many are martyred today. The difference, this world’s natural disasters are nothing compared to the devastation during the tribulation. Life will be difficult. Concern for the lost is the impetus for this painting.  

Jesus is standing in the midst of seven lampstands described in Revelation 1-3. It is thought the churches also describe the seven stages of the church history from Acts 2:1-47 until today. If that is so, we are in the last stage, the Laodicean church. This was a lukewarm church which Jesus said He would vomit out of His mouth because it is an apostate church. We are seeing that today. Jesus is the way, truth, and life to get to heaven.   

Jesus is seen with hair as white as snow, eyes like fire with a double edged sword coming out of His mouth. He has a golden band around His chest and In His right hand are seven stars which are the seven angels of the seven churches. It is believed they represent the pastors of those churches.  

So, this is my visual interpretation of Jesus Christ in His glory as described by John in Revelation One. I painted it because of world circumstances today. Covid rocked me out of my complacency and I hope this message ministers God’s truth to you as well.
